TTS has recently installed and successfully commissioned a new TMS-1000 Human Machine Interface system on nine MS6001 gas turbine generators at a power plant in Ebute, Nigeria. The new system provides personnel extensive access to accurate plant information in a user friendly graphic environment that reflects actual plant installation. Through their strategic partner, Capime Ingenieria S.A., TTS has been awarded multiple gas turbine control system upgrades on multiple turbine platforms throughout South America. Since mid-2007 TTS has provided and successfully commissioned new TMS-1000 control systems on MS5001 and LM2500 gas turbine generators replacing the existing OEM control systems. The project requires extensive modifications to the gas turbines, including the addition of new speed reducing gearboxes, generator changes, and modifications to all auxiliary systems. Furthermore, as a result of the fuel available at site, the units will be modified from DLN-1™gas-only combustion, to dual-fuel standard combustors, with water injection added to meet contract emission requirements.

The intent of the project is to gather operational information from all of the remote combustion turbine control systems and transmit the data, via satellite, to the central monitoring facility in Iraq. The information will be continuously monitored at the center to provide diagnosis, alarm management, data storage, etc., all with the intent of providing real-time information and decision-making tools to improve power plant availability throughout the Iraqi power grid.
The center, which will monitor a variety of different gas turbines and control systems, was initially staged at a TTS facility in Orlando where it was fully configured and tested. In-depth training was provided to customer personnel by TTS engineers.

TTS has successfully completed the commissioning of a Frame 5 gas turbine-generator unit following implementation of a dual fuel conversion and a turbine and generator controls system upgrade for an Independent Power Producer (IPP) in Indonesia.
The project scope included provision of a completely new gas fuel system including new off-base gas skid, manifolds and fuel nozzles, a new purge system and required modifications to the existing liquid fuel system. Gas fuel flow metering was achieved using a TTS ElectroFlo Gas Control Valve. TTS also engineered, procured, assembled and tested the complete TMS-1000 gas turbine controls and generator controls replacement.
Further confirming TTS’ technical capabilities for gas fuel conversions, the company was also recently awarded a contract to convert two Frame 5 units from liquid fuel to dual fuel operation for a utility in West Africa. In this case, the conversion will be applied using an existing GE Speedtronic™ Mark VI gas turbine control system. TTS project scope includes provision of a completely new gas fuel system for each unit including gas valves, manifolds and fuel nozzles, a new purge system and required modification to the existing liquid fuel system. TTS is also undertaking the modifications required to the Speedtronic Mark VI system to allow for dual fuel operation and will be responsible for commissioning the entire system.

TTS has successfully completed the commissioning of a replacement plant control building provided on an emergency basis to an Independent Power Producer (IPP) in West Africa. The replacement was urgently required following a fire that completely destroyed the existing cab.
Within 12 weeks of order, TTS engineered, procured, assembled and tested the complete control building including TMS-1000 gas turbine controls, generator controls, MCCs, black start diesel controls, main power transformers, MV breakers, and all other auxiliaries required for operation of a complete 35mW power barge. Due to urgent power replacement needs, the building was sent using an Antonov air freighter. TTS then sent a team of commissioning experts to install and commission the cab within 3 weeks of arrival in country.
According to TTS President Tony Thornton; “TTS’ long-standing relationship with this client assured them we were the only company capable of providing this equipment safely, and correctly engineered in such a short time-frame.”

TTS has successfully completed the replacement of two SPEEDTRONIC™ MARK V control systems for a major gas transmission company in the Northeastern United States. The systems, installed on GE Frame 5 gas turbines utilizing DLN combustion technology, were replaced using TTS designed TMS-1000 control systems with PLC architecture.
This unique project, provided on a turnkey basis, included replacement of all turbine control, sequencing and protection functions, in addition to plant control interfaces.
In addition to the control system changeout, remote capability was installed to allow access to both the combustion monitoring system and gas turbine control system, thus allowing real-time remote combustion tuning and unit troubleshooting.

TTS have signed a licensing and cooperative agreement with Control Center LLC (CCLLC) for the manufacture and marketing of the TTS ElectroFlo® control valve. Under the agreement, both TTS and CCLLC will market the valve to the turbomachinery market, with all valves being built and tested at the CCLLC facility in Orlando.
